Researchers at University of Maryland at College Park have come up with a new technique that has the potential of making many science-fiction scenarios, realities of everyday life.
"
Using a time-reversal technique, the team has discovered how to
transmit power, sound or images to a nonlinear object without knowing
the object 's exact location and without affecting objects around it.
"
That means one day you can charge your cell phone remotely without any cable, without even knowing where your cell phone is! and many other cool applications! Learn more here.
Dear Nargess, I guess I didn't followed the theoretic physics lessons at Uni carefully enough. But how a time reversal might work or what a non-linear object is I have to read one more time.
ReplyDeleteBut if it allows a phone to be recharged wireless, I guess will soon find commercial applications. As long as no evil guys try to use it for the next generation of Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction.
A potential novel way to wireless recharged old cell phones I also invented on a recent trip to the Holy Land. Check out here http://broken-radius.blogspot.de/2013/04/wireless-phone-charger.html.
